Chesterton Academy of St. Mary's 1st Drama Performance ~ Harvey!
The Drama production, Harvey, presented by Chesterton Academy of St. Mary’s 10th and 11th Grade students on Saturday January 29th, 2022 was a big hit! Directed by Chesterton Academy’s Drama Teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth Dugan, Harvey is a Comedy-Drama about Elwood Dowd (Blake Gibson), an eccentric man whose best friend is an invisible six-foot-tall rabbit named Harvey who happens to be a pooka (a wise but mischievous creature from Celtic mythology).
When Elwood begins introducing Harvey around town, his embarrassed sister, Veta Louise (Violet Walker), and her daughter, Myrtle Mae (Catherine Powell), decide to commit Elwood to a sanitarium. A mistake is made, however, and Veta is committed rather than Elwood! Eventually, the mistake is realized, and the frantic search begins for Elwood and the invisible rabbit.
Special thanks to John Rollison for his design of the amazing stage and all those who contributed to the props, set and excellent food at intermission. At Chesterton Academy, all students participate in Drama as actors, stagehands and other critical roles. Some actors have never acted before, and some actors had acting experience. The students demonstrated comradery and support for each other. They had so much fun as did the audience! Congratulations to Mrs. Dugan and the students for making our first drama performance exceptional!
