Spring Concert and Academic Award Ceremony

Chesterton Academy of St. Mary’s held their Spring Concert and Academic Award Ceremony June 1, 2022. This highly attended event included beautiful renditions of Dona Nobis Pacem, Flower Duet, Ave Verum Corpus, Parting Glass and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. Students displayed a variety of talent, including a singing duet with piano, violin and guitar instruments.

Thank you to music and choir teacher, Mrs. Carolyn Sullivan, for cultivating their talent and preparing the students for such an impressive performance!

The Academic Awards ceremony followed where Headmaster Andrew Pudysz presented Second Honor Awards (cumulative GPA between 3.33 and 3.66) and First Honors Awards (cumulative GPA between 3.67 and 4.0).

All Chesterton Academy Schools nominate and select students for various Academic Awards. The Chesterton Academy of St. Mary’s students were nominated and chosen by the faculty and the awards were presented for exemplary scholarship and dedication in each discipline.

The G. K. Award was presented to Jerome Hurla. This award is given to an upper-class student who best demonstrates the great virtues of charity and joy so evident in our illustrious and intellectual patron, G. K. Chesterton.

The Socrates Award was presented to Abigail Cress. This award is given to an upper-class student who best manifests the spirit of frank discourse by engaging consistently in classroom discussion across the curriculum and distinguishing those contributions both in terms of quantity and quality.

Clare Schnitker was presented the Fine Arts Award for Art; Blake Gibson was presented the Fine Arts Award for Drama; and Americ Parson was presented the Fine Arts Award for Music. Maribeth Davis was presented the Humanities Award; Faith Mason was presented the Mathematics Award; and Andrew Tschanz was presented the Science Award.
